When you first set foot on Teyvat continent in Genshin Impact in 2020, you probably didn’t expect that five years later, this continent would expand to such a grand scale after many “updates”, and in order to keep the game fresh, this expansion of the territory should continue.
There are currently 7 regions in the game, and just like the real world, each region has its own unique local customs and geographical characteristics, and all Genshin Impact characters will also have the characteristics of the region they come from. As one of the earliest regions, Mondstadt fully deserves more characters, but perhaps because the idea of expanding the map for the region has never really been realized, the number of characters has no chance to grow. Although the developers have previously revealed news about Dornman Port, Mondstadt has not received any substantial development plans recently.
Expansion Of The Number Of Characters
Although Mondstadt was born very early, there are still many characters that can play a big role on the battlefield, such as Jean, Bennett, Fischl, and Sucrose. The reason why Liyue has the most characters may be because Lantern Rite in Genshin Impact adds at least one character here every year.
In contrast, the number of characters in Sumeru and Fontaine lags behind Mondstadt, and Natlan, as a new region, has just begun to shape its regional lineup, so it is normal to have a small number. Although the frequent launch of new regions may be the reason why no new Mondstadt characters have been added so far, this situation may change in the near future. At least according to the upcoming character list, Dahlia, the deacon of Church of Favonius, will debut in late spring 2025.
Of course, it would be better if this new Mondstadt character was five-star, but unfortunately Genshin Impact is not expected to launch a new male five-star character until at least version 6.0. But at least you won’t be disappointed with Genshin Impact in terms of gaming experience recently, because version 5.5 will be released on March 26, 2025!
