Will Patch 0.2.0 Fix POE 2's Achilles' Heel?

By Bren Lyles | Last ModifiedMar 27, 2025

We all know that Path of Exile 2 has more than 578,000 paying players, but the first patch did not meet expectations. Their next major content patch 0.20 Dawn of the Hunt will finally be released on April 4. However, the tower problem has always existed, and the developers are also very troubled to solve this problem.

So will this problem be solved in the newly released Dawn of the Hunt? Let’s explore it together.

Will Patch 0.2.0 Fix POE2’s Achilles’ Heel?

Tower maps can help players expand the battlefield, see more maps within the visible range, and enhance the surrounding maps, but the number of enhancements depends on the number of maps specified on the slate. Once activated, the selected map will be a random map near the tower that has not completed the task, but the problem is that there are few monsters in the tower, which means that the rewards are very small and it is impossible to get more POE 2 Currency.

So what is the correct way to use it? Since the map around the tower is also random, it is necessary to use all the garbage maps and layouts around the tower, and then run the tower, so that the map that the player really wants to run can be enhanced. But this method is still very troublesome and still requires the developer to change the relevant mechanism.

According to the news released by the developer, they implemented four new tower map layouts and redesigned the layout of Lost Tower. They believe that the layout is the key, not the tower system itself. Now the operation of the tower is more diverse, but it is still an interruption of the game and there is no obvious difference from before the revision. Because although the precursor slabs in the tower can now be used to enhance the tower, it cannot change the scarcity of monsters in the tower, resulting in players not investing in them.

So how can the developer solve these problems? The more obvious solution is to completely remove the tower map, which can completely solve the problem, but the disadvantage of this solution is that it directly kills some players who like the tower map. Another solution is to keep the tower map, but give players more autonomy, allowing players to choose to complete any map within the radius of the tower, rather than the random map automatically generated by the system.

However, I personally do not agree to completely remove the tower, because existence is reasonable. The reason why the tower map can cause widespread discussion instead of blindly scolding means that many players still have a lot of expectations for the design of the tower map, and they also want to get the rich rewards after completing the tower map. Therefore, we cannot completely erase the love of these players, but sincerely hope that the developers can pay attention to the wishes of these players. Only in this way can we satisfy the players and make the game colorful.
