In ARC Raiders, rarity is a hot topic among players. Many new players, upon entering raids, instinctively believe that high-quality gear like Legendary and Epic is stronger than Common or Uncommon gear, but this isn't always the case.
Gear selection in ARC Raiders isn't simply about pursuing the highest rarity. Movement speed, resource consumption, crafting cost, durability loss, and the actual gameplay experience are often more important than the numbers on the gear's stats.

Some lower-rarity gear, while ordinary in stats, is more efficient in actual raids because it's easier to obtain, more stable, and more suitable for long-term use. So, which gear in ARC Raiders is truly worth prioritizing? Which high-end gear is actually less cost-effective?
Shields
Currently, Light Shields and Medium Shields are the most commonly used in ARC Raiders, while Heavy Shields are used relatively less. The reason is simple: while Heavy Shields offer higher Shield Charge and additional Damage Reduction, they also come with a significant Movement Speed penalty.
Heavy Shield offers only a slight increase in Shield value compared to Medium Shield, but provides an additional 10% damage reduction. Against ARC Raiders, Heavy Shield offers significantly better survivability. It can withstand more attacks, and the damage reduction effect is very noticeable.
However, the problem is that once Shield breaks, you lose Damage Reduction, and the movement speed reduction from Heavy Shield remains. In contrast, Light Shield allows for faster movement, easier dodging of attacks, and quicker access to cover.
In actual raids, mobility is often more important than a little extra defense. Quick repositioning, securing resources first, and dodging large ARC attacks are advantages that Heavy Shield cannot provide. Therefore, Light Shield and Medium Shield are often more suitable for most ARC Raiders players than Heavy Shield.
Throwables
Wolfpack and Seeker Grenade are two frequently compared choices by ARC Raiders players. Wolfpack boasts significantly higher damage and attack range, especially against large ARC enemies, where it can unleash very high burst damage.
However, its drawbacks are also apparent: higher crafting cost and only one per equipment slot. In contrast, while Seeker Grenade's single-hit damage isn't as exaggerated as Wolfpack's, it has a lower crafting cost and can be thrown continuously.
In actual ARC Raider combat, you can quickly throw many Seeker Grenades to continuously overwhelm enemies with sheer numbers. Wolfpack is better suited for crucial battles or eliminating high-value targets, while Seeker Grenade is a more stable long-term choice for regular raids.
Blaze Grenade and Fireball Burner are another typical example. Blaze Grenade is rarer and has a larger blast radius, but in actual testing, the damage difference between the two against ARC is minimal. The biggest difference lies in their acquisition methods and crafting costs.
Fireball Burner can be obtained by killing Fireballs, making its source more stable, while Blaze Grenade is more expensive. If you need precise throwing areas, such as attacking enemies in corners, Blaze Grenade's area-of-effect advantage is indeed present. However, in regular PvE combat, both are almost equally effective, making Fireball Burner more cost-effective.
The comparison between Heavy Fuze Grenade and Light Impact Grenade further demonstrates that rarity is not the decisive factor for ARC Raiders. While Heavy Fuze Grenade is a higher tier, it has a significant drawback: the explosion has a delay, making it difficult to accurately hit moving targets.
Light Impact Grenade, on the other hand, is a common-tier ARC Raiders Items. Its biggest advantage is that it explodes immediately after being thrown, is easy to use, and can be used quickly and consecutively.
Although Heavy Fuze Grenade theoretically has slightly higher damage, in actual ARC Raiders combat, accuracy and ease of use are more important. Therefore, the lower-tier Light Impact Grenade is often superior in many situations.
Bandage
A similar situation exists with ARC Raiders healing items. Sterilized Bandages provide higher individual health recovery, but Herbal Bandages can be carried in greater numbers and are cheaper to craft.
Herbal Bandages restore 35 Health peruse, stacking to approximately 170 Health, while Sterilized Bandages restore 50 Health peruse, but only about 150 Health in total.
Furthermore, Herbal Bandages are easier to obtain and cheaper to craft in ARC Raiders. Therefore, for most players, Herbal Bandages are the more sensible choice.

Attachments
Weapon attachments in ARC Raiders are also the most misleading aspect for players. Many advanced attachments offer higher stats, such as better recoil control, lower noise, and higher bullet velocity, but they often come with higher durability costs.
For example, Silencer 3, compared to Silencer 2, only adds some noise reduction, but its durability cost is significantly increased. This means you'll need to repair or replace equipment more frequently.
Similar issues arise with muzzle brakes, compensators, and stocks. While some Epic Attachments boast impressive stats, their actual performance improvement is minimal, while increasing maintenance burden.
ARC Raiders isn't simply a game about pursuing Legendary or Epic gear. Truly excellent gear requires considering damage, defense, mobility, crafting costs, maintenance costs, and the overall gameplay experience.
Therefore, item color doesn't fully represent strength. Often, those seemingly ordinary Common or Uncommon items are the true key to long-term survival and improved raid efficiency.
