Diablo 4 Season 9 Will Add New Classes In The Next Expansion

By Mikel Skiles | Last ModifiedJul 11, 2025

Some days have passed since the release of D4 S9. In this season, Diablo 4 has launched many new features, such as Horadric Spellcraft, Escalating Nightmares and Nightmare Dungeon Updates. In addition, it also has many other changes. I believe that most players have experienced these changes in person during this game journey.

Blizzard once stated that D4 is expected to update a season every three months. In each season, in addition to retaining the core concept of Diablo 4, the quest line, game mechanics and rewards will be updated.

Diablo 4 Season 9 Will Add New Classes In The Next Expansion

However, according to the current situation, after Vessel of Hatred, the next expansion is likely not to be updated this year. The game developers plan to update the next expansion next year.

The postponement of the next expansion has not reduced players’ expectations for it. We can see from the subsequent season that D4’s the next expansion is likely to continue to have new classes.

D4 players can already find a preview of the next expansion plot in Sins of Horadrim season. The plot revolves around Church of Light, and DLC will take players back to Westmarch in D3.

Players who found this plot preview began to be curious about the next new class in the game. They have many speculations about this, and most players think that this new class will be Crusader or Monk from Diablo 3.

However, no matter which of Crusader and Monk classes the new classes is, or whether it is another classes, it will follow the footsteps of Spiritborn and become MVP of the game lineup. And since some players may not be particularly familiar with DLC, I will first introduce Spiritborn.

Spiritborn

It was introduced in Vessel of Hatred and was the first new classes added to Diablo 4. Since its release, Spiritborn has been popular and it has dominated Vessel of Hatred. Its skills and unique items are powerful, represented by Withering Fist and Sepazontec.

Spiritborn usually tops the classes tier list in Vessel of Hatred and has held that position ever since. The combination of Rod of Kepereke and Quill Volley is nearly unbeatable. This season, Spiritborn once again rises to the top of the item tier list with the new Barazan Maxtrattle Pants.

However, when Diablo 4 next expansion is released, it may receive less attention, because new classes added will probably be more powerful than Spiritborn, helping players complete quests, farming Diablo 4 Gold, and dominating the game.

Current Hot Speculation

Crusader

As the strongest single-player pusher class, Crusader has strong survivability, can deal heavy damage to enemies, and can support other players with damage reduction buffs. Crusader does not need other items to reach the strongest combat power like Spiritborn. So if it becomes a new class in the next expansion, it may surpass Spiritborn.

Monk

Monk is the only class in Diablo Immortal that has direct healing ability and can also increase the health of teammates. Like other classes, Monk has high damage. Whether holding a weapon or bare-handed, Monk will cause serious damage to the enemy. Generally, players who like Monk like melee and combo gameplay.

Finally, in addition to the two classes mentioned above, Paladin is the class that players most hope to be added next expansion. It is a member of Knights of Westmarch. As early as when Spiritborn was added, many players expected its return. However, the game developers said at the time that they hoped to add a new class instead of adding an existing class.

I wonder if the game developers will meet the players’ wishes for Paladin’s return next expansion. There is still a long time before the release of the next expansion. Which class do you hope D4 will add?
